Student ID

You can put any integer number here to generate different exercises for practice. However you must submit the activity associated with your ID number to D2L in order to receive credit for the activity.

Job Management

1. Take a screenshot of these instructions (including your student number) and the file/folder structure below. If you cannot get everything into the screenshot it is okay, just take your ID number and whatever fits on the screen.
2. Obtain a copy of the this tar file and put this into your account on sit (any technique). Create a folder named a15job_management and extract the contents of the tar file into this folder. Use cd to change to this folder.
3. The tar file contains 4 files named cp.php, gtest.py, test.cs, and traffic.js. Open each file using any text editor (your choice) but after opening the file, stop the job using the 'Ctrl-Z' key. When you are finished doing this for all 4 files run the command 'jobs' and make sure that you can see 4 stopped jobs. Clear the screen on your terminal and proceed.
4. In the next two steps, the order in which you visit the files is important. If you open the files in a different order you will lose points.
5. Issue the command 'date;jobs' (this will show the current time and list of jobs). Now, write the command to activate the editor which is being used on file ? but do not press enter. Take a screenshot of the two commands and add it to your document. Press enter to open the editor and take a screenshot of the file. Stop the editor with the Ctrl-Z so that you return to the command prompt.
6. Repeat the above step now for the file ?, ?, and ?.
7. Go back into each editor and close it correctly (i.e. Ctrl-X if you are in nano). When the 'jobs' command shows nothing, you are finished.
